Nitesh Tiwari on Why ‘Ramayana’ Is Split Into Two Parts, the Part 1 Cliffhanger, and Bringing It to San Diego Comic-Con

Director Nitesh Tiwari opened up about the creative decision to divide ‘Ramayana’ into two parts, revealing that the first installment will conclude with a major cliffhanger designed to leave audiences eager for the next chapter. Speaking during the film's San Diego Comic-Con launch and in an interview with Fanversation, he also shared why the global pop culture event was the ideal platform to introduce the ambitious adaptation and what viewers can expect from the cinematic experience.

Why Ramayana Was Divided Into Two Parts

Nitesh Tiwari noted that the movie will end in a cliffhanger. He said, "Where we leave in part 1, it is something which is called a cliffhanger. Something which will make people watch part 2 when they leave the theatre. That's basically it.”

He further added, “It is a story which deserves two parts; it cannot be told in one part. And we just kind of decided that this would be the best part where we can end it for part 1 and where we can leave it for part 2.”

On Launching Ramayana at San Diego Comic-Con

While speaking to Fanversation, Tiwari said, “It means a lot to be at Comic-Con. The biggest objective was to bring the best of India to the rest of the world. What better place than Comic-Con to start the protest. The audience will be seeing your first look, and will be getting their first interaction. That is something we have waited for so long to experience. I am keeping my fingers crossed, is all I can say.

"As a Creator, These Are Moments You Wait For"

Tiwari opened up about putting years of hard work in the movie, which will finally release this year. “You can sense excitement in my voice. As a creator, these are moments you wait for. You have spent so many years creating something with so much anticipation. Finally, it is going to come to this point where you are now going to see which way it goes. Audiences can expect an emotionally exciting experience. It will be visually stimulating too. That is precisely why we wanted to convey the tale of ‘Ramayana’ to the whole world. It has been a part of our collective conscience for thousands of years. Now was the right time to bring it in the grandest way possible. Technology has also allowed us to do so. We had resources to be able to do that,” he shared.
