“Silaa,” an action romance directed by Omung Kumar, has the film’s female lead, Sadia Khateeb, in an exciting, adrenaline-fuelled avatar. Variety India shares an exclusive peek at her look, which gives an Indian Lara Croft vibe. While the film places her at the center of the action, its shoot saw her stepping into terrain that’s far removed from what a film set is like.

Though outdoor shoots are common, this one saw the actor and the film’s crew out of their comfort zone. The team filmed in Vietnam’s Son Doong Cave, one of the largest caves in the world, where they spent four days without mobile networks or washrooms. The film, a story of love and revenge, is reportedly set against the backdrop of Kashmir and Vietnam. Khateeb shares screen space with Harshvardhan Rane in the movie, which hits screens on February 5, 2027.
The remote destination in Vietnam proved to be a striking location, but filming in its depths came with formidable challenges. Khateeb took on the challenge of contending with extreme humidity, pitch darkness and stretches of silence, while navigating difficult terrain during a shoot that also involved some rock climbing. With basic amenities difficult to reach, the schedule demanded careful planning and strict adherence to safety protocols.

Son Doong is known for its immense chambers and underground landscapes, and access to the cave is tightly regulated, with expeditions conducted under trained supervision. Shooting a film in such an environment is a massive undertaking.
For Silaa, the cave becomes more than just a dramatic location. It adds a rugged edge, turning it into a raw, adventurous space that blends romance and action.
On the work front, Khateeb made her acting debut with Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s “Shikara” (2020). The young actress, who was a part of “Raksha Bandhan” (2022) and “The Diplomat” (2025), is steadily building a noteworthy filmography.
