Ranveer Singh is expected to return to the sets of “Pralay” by the end of October for a brief shooting schedule before taking another break from the film, Variety India has learned. His subsequent return is yet to be established. The actor stepped away from the production days before he and Deepika Padukone welcomed their second daughter on September 19.
Earlier, Singh was scheduled to shoot for “Pralay” until Diwali before taking paternity leave, with the film’s next major schedule was expected to take place in 2027. The revised timeline suggests short stints at work, rather than an uninterrupted paternity break. A source informs, “The plan currently is for actor to resume the shoot on October 27 for a short schedule of a couple of weeks. This schedule will be filmed in Mumbai”
Directed by Jai Mehta, “Pralay” went on floors in Mumbai in August. The project marks Singh’s first foray into the zombie thriller genre and follows his work on the “Dhurandhar” films. While the makers have kept the story details under wraps, the film is set in a post-apocalyptic Mumbai and is being mounted as a survival thriller. The production is shooting at real locations in and around the city, bringing the film’s setting into its visual world.

The decision to shoot in Mumbai also followed a reported change in the production’s plans. An earlier schedule had been expected to take place in Australia, but the production shifted to Mumbai as Singh and Padukone prepared to welcome their second child. The move allowed filming to proceed closer to home during that period. Singh subsequently took time away after his daughter’s birth, and the brief October schedule will mark his return to the film.
The production’s progress has continued to draw attention despite limited information about the film’s plot. In September, glimpses from the sets showed Singh in a rugged look, with longer hair and stubble, alongside co-star Kalyani Priyadarshan. The Malayalam actor is making her Hindi film debut with “Pralay”. The project is among Singh’s next major screen ventures following the massive success of “Dhurandhar” and its sequel, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge”.
Mehta previously co-directed “Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story.” “Pralay” is backed by Ananya Birla’s Birla Studios, Hansal Mehta and Sahil Saigal’s True Story Films, along with Singh’s Maa Kasam Films. Details about the supporting cast, full production schedule and release date have not been announced.
