Ranbir Kapoor Addresses Lord Rama Casting, ‘Dhoom 4’ Rumours and Working With Yash at San Diego Comic-Con 2026
Ranbir Kapoor made a memorable appearance at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 as “Ramayana” unveiled its first look on the global stage. During the event, the actor spoke about stepping into the role of Lord Ram, responded to ongoing speculation around “Dhoom 4,” reflected on taking an Indian epic to an international audience, and praised his co-star Yash, who essays Ravana in the Nitesh Tiwari directorial.

On Playing Lord Rama
Addressing conversations around his casting as Lord Rama, Ranbir acknowledged that audiences will always have different opinions about who should portray the revered character. He said, “They all have their own interpretation of Lord Ram. There is no fixed face to it. Many people will probably feel like I am the wrong casting. Some people will say I am the right casting. But the honest truth is the right casting for Rama would be any actor who has the right intentions and who has belief and faith in the journey of Lord Rama.”
On Bringing ‘Ramayana’ to Comic-Con
Speaking to Reuters about presenting ‘Ramayana’ at one of the world's biggest pop culture events, Ranbir said it was a proud moment for the entire team. He said, "I've always been a fan of comic conventions. To finally be here on the other side with a story, which is so ingrained in our culture, to bring that to a larger audience, it's really a proud moment for our entire team."
On Yash's Portrayal of Ravana
The actor was full of praise for Yash's performance as Ravana, saying the Kannada superstar has brought the iconic antagonist to life. He shared, “He’s played it with so much of swag, with so much of aura, with so much of honesty, that he’s really made Ravan come alive.”
On Sharing Screen Space With Yash
Ranbir also revealed that while the two characters have not had many scenes together yet, he has long admired Yash and believes he was the ideal choice to play Ravana.
“Rama and Ravana really meet at the end of the film. Maybe a meeting in the middle, but we haven’t shot that yet, so we haven’t had the opportunity to work together. But I’ve known Yash for some time now. I’ve been a big fan of his work, and I truly believe that we needed somebody with his aura, with his stardom, with his outlook, to play this role,” he revealed.

On 'Dhoom 4' Speculations
Ranbir also put an end to rumors linking him to “Dhoom 4,” revealing that his immediate focus remains on his current projects. “No, right now I am working on Ramayana and another film called ‘Love & War,’ which is directed by Mr Sanjay Bhansali. That should be out on January 24 next year,” he added.
