Verdict’s Out! Film Buffs Cannot Wait for Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’

The results are out. The audience is most eager to watch Nitesh Tiwari’s “Ramayana” in theatres this year. Variety India had asked its followers across social media platforms to vote for the Hindi film director whose project they are most excited about. In the second half of 2026, Nitesh Tiwari’s “Ramayana,” Laxman Utekar’s “Eetha,” Rajkumar Santoshi’s “Batwara,” and Siddharth Anand’s “King” will hit the big screen. The audience believes Nitesh Tiwari will do justice to the mega-scale venture, touted as one of the biggest movies in Indian cinema.

On Instagram, it was a battle between Nitesh Tiwari and Laxman Utekar. While Tiwari got 39% of votes, “Eetha” maker got 33%. Veteran filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, who is back with Sunny Deol in “Batwara 1947,” got 11% of the votes, while Siddharth Anand secured 11% for his upcoming movie “King” with Shah Rukh Khan.

On YouTube, too, it was Tiwari who bagged 64% of the votes, which gives an indication of people’s excitement to see the film in theatres. In second spot was Anand with 16%. The director is looking to recreate the “Pathaan” magic with his upcoming action flick, which features some of India’s biggest stars. Utekar, with 11%, and Santoshi, with 9%, took the third and fourth spots.
 

“Ramayana” starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Ravie Dubey and Sunny Deol in pivotal roles hits the screens this Diwali. The music for the film has been co-composed by AR Rahman and Oscar winner Hans Zimmer. Tiwari is known for his engaging narration, social commentary and capacity to extract great performances from the cast.
