‘The Odyssey’ Box Office: Christopher Nolan Gets His Biggest Opener In India; Beats ‘Oppenheimer’
Filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s latest epic, “The Odyssey,” has opened to strong numbers on its first day at the box office. The film raked in ₹17.40 crore on Friday, becoming the director’s biggest opener in India, surpassing his previous film, "Oppenheimer" (₹14.50 crore).
In fact, the movie has opened better than recent Indian movies, including “Dhamaal 4” (₹14 crore), “Welcome To The Jungle” (₹15 crore) and “Bhooth Bangla” (₹11.50 crore).
The original version contributed significantly to the collections, earning ₹13.75 crore with an average occupancy of 77% across 4,401 shows. Talking about the dubbed versions, the Telugu (₹1.10 crore in 675 shows with 30% occupancy) and Tamil (₹0.65 crore in 486 shows with 28% occupancy) scored decent numbers, while the Hindi version was underwhelming, as it had an average occupancy of merely 13% across 2,851 shows, collecting ₹1.90 crore.
