Box Office Weekend Winners: ‘Toxic’ Is A Colossal Disappointment, ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’ and ‘Irumudi’ Are Certified Blockbusters
The last weekend of August failed to live up to audience expectations, with Yash-starrer “Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups,” touted as a box-office monster, struggling to draw footfalls amid negative word-of-mouth. The period gangster drama’s underwhelming run, however, boosted the business of “Irumudi” and “Bethlehem Kudumba Unit.” Among the holdover releases, “Hanuman Ansh” emerged as a pleasant surprise at the ticket windows with a phenomenal jump in collections.
‘Toxic’: A Major Disappointment
Yash’s “Toxic” arrived at the box office with expectations of becoming one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema history. While the film opened to a massive response, earning more than ₹100 crore on its first day, negative word of mouth severely hampered its business. The film managed to collect a mere ₹214.10 crore over its extended five-day opening weekend.

‘Hanuman Ansh’ Shows Unexpected Growth
The devotional drama, based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba, witnessed unbelievable growth last weekend. While the film collected ₹10.40 crore in three weeks, it soared in its fourth weekend, raking in ₹28.25 crore, taking its overall tally to ₹38.65 crore.
‘Vishwanath and Sons’ Continues To Hold Steady In Its Third Weekend
Suriya’s family drama “Vishwanath and Sons” managed to hold well in its third weekend despite the arrival of new releases by collecting ₹6.85 crore. The film currently stands at ₹116 crore.
