The year 2026 is shaping up to be a year of box-office comebacks for some of Indian cinema’s leading men. After Tamil star Suriya found his groove with “Karuppu” and “Vishwanath and Sons,” Telugu star Ravi Teja delivered a roaring hit with “Irumudi,” putting an end to a run of underperforming films and marking a strong return to the commercial spotlight.
Since the second half of 2023, Ravi Teja’s films, including “Ravanasura,” “Tiger Nageswara Rao,” “Eagle,” “Mr. Bachchan,” “Mass Jathara” and “Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi,” have failed to perform at the box office. However, “Irumudi” emerged as a pleasant surprise, offering a much-needed turnaround for the actor, who broke away from the mass entertainers that he was known for and starred in a family drama that struck a chord with audiences.
