Vijay Deverakonda, Rashmika Mandanna Starrer ‘Ranabaali’ Gets New Release Date, To Hit Theatres On October 16

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna starrer ‘Ranabaali’ is slated to release on October 16. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the period drama was earlier releasing on September 11. It is set in the British era and draws from historical events and suppressed accounts.

Taking to its social media, Vijay Deverakonda shared the updated release date, with the caption, “The darkest chapter of our history opens this October. #Ranabaali GRAND RELEASE WORLDWIDE ON 16.10.26. NeverForget #RanabaaliOnOct16th.” Deverakonda plays the role of Ranabaali, while Rashmika Mandanna stars as his wife Jayamma. “The Mummy” actor Arnold Vosloo essays the role of the lead antagonist Sir Theodore Hector.

The film is set during the British era and is envisioned as a grand period action drama. Set in the 19th century, it draws from real historical events that unfolded between 1854 and 1878 and is being developed as a large-scale pan-India production.

After “Geetha Govindam” and “Dear Comrade,” this is Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda’s third film together. While not much is known about the movie, the cast shared photos and videos on their social media accounts from time to time. Opening up about the movie, Rashmika told Variety India, “The love that everyone gave us for ‘Geetha Govindam’ and ‘Dear Comrade’ is something we hold close to our hearts. But ‘Ranabaali’ is a completely different world altogether. This isn’t a contemporary love story; it’s a massive, intense period drama.”

She added, “Stepping into characters like Ranabaali and Jayamma required us to shed our past on-screen personas and dive into a raw, emotional, high-stakes colonial backdrop. It’s a space neither of us has explored to this scale before. The warmth we’ve already received for the first glimpses and songs fills us with nothing but immense gratitude.”
