‘Ramayana’ Screens 15 Minutes of Unseen Footage for Exhibitors at Big Cine Expo 2026
The Nitesh Tiwari-directed epic “Ramayana” has given exhibitors an extended look at its visual world, with 15 minutes of previously unseen footage screened at Big Cine Expo 2026 in Chennai.
The annual exhibition industry event brought together theatre owners and other stakeholders from across the cinema sector. The “Ramayana” footage was screened during the expo, with attendees required to keep their phones away and prohibited from recording the presentation.
According to Bollywood Hungama, an exhibitor who attended the screening said the footage featured several creatures from the film, including a one-eyed daitya and a bear-like creature. The exhibitor compared the scale of the visual effects to large-scale Hollywood productions, citing “The Lord of the Rings” as a reference point.

The presentation comes after “Ramayana” was showcased to international industry audiences at CinemaCon in Las Vegas earlier this year, where the makers presented footage from the film.
“Ramayana” is directed by Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, with Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey also among the principal cast. The project is planned as a two-part adaptation, with the first instalment scheduled for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release.
The Chennai presentation was aimed at the exhibition community, giving theatre owners an early look at a film expected to be one of the major theatrical releases of the year. While the footage remains under wraps, its screening adds to the anticipation surrounding the project.
The film’s visual effects are being handled by DNEG, while its music brings together A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer. The combination of the Indian epic, international production talent and a two-part theatrical structure makes “Ramayana” one of the most ambitious Indian film projects currently headed to cinemas.
For now, the 15-minute presentation remains exclusive to exhibitors who attended Big Cine Expo. The wider audience will have to wait for the makers’ next official reveal. The Nitesh Tiwari directorial is set to release worldwide on November 6, 2026 and in India on November 8, 2026.
