Sandeep Reddy Vanga in Talks With Mahesh Babu, Will Start ‘Animal Park’ After ‘Spirit,’ Confirms Brother Pranay Reddy Vanga
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s brother and producer Pranay Reddy Vanga has confirmed that the filmmaker is in discussions with Mahesh Babu for a future collaboration. However, the “Kabir Singh” director will first complete “Spirit” and then take a six-month break before moving on to “Animal Park,” the sequel to the 2023 Ranbir Kapoor-starrer “Animal.”
Speaking at the trailer launch of the Telugu film “Romanchakam” produced under their banner in Hyderabad, Pranay Reddy Vanga shared, “Immediately after ‘Spirit,’ we will take a six-month break. Then we will start on ‘Animal Park.’”
The film was announced with a post-credits scene in “Animal,” which introduced Ranbir Kapoor’s second character, Aziz, and set up a larger conflict with Ranvijay. Meanwhile, “Spirit,” starring Prabhas, is scheduled to release on March 5, 2027. The makers recently reiterated that the date remains unchanged. Post-production on “Animal Park” is therefore expected to begin in the latter part of 2027.

Pranay also addressed the long-discussed possibility of Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Mahesh Babu working together. “Sandeep is also talking to Mahesh,” he shared, while making clear that nothing has been finalized at this stage. The “Arjun Reddy” director is currently focused on “Spirit,” his first collaboration with Prabhas.
Pranay said the filmmaker’s writing process is one reason the team does not rush into production. “He will take time. He writes slowly,” Pranay said. The wait for “Animal Park” comes after the commercial success of its predecessor, “Animal,” which was released in December 2023. The film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Triptii Dimri became one of the biggest Hindi-language theatrical successes of the year.
For the Sandeep Reddy Vanga camp, the next phase is not simply about extending that success. Pranay Reddy Vanga said their production approach remains rooted in careful planning and controlling expenditure. That philosophy was particularly important on “Animal,” which he said was made for about ₹180 crore including remuneration, while the team expected the film to make around ₹500 crore. It ultimately crossed ₹900 crore worldwide.
The commercial expectations have changed since then, but the process has not. Pranay said the team checks and rechecks what each project actually needs before committing resources. That approach now extends to the filmmaker’s crowded future slate.
