‘Jana Nayagan’ Box Office: Thalapathy Vijay’s Film Set to Enter ₹100 Crore Club

After enjoying a record-breaking opening day on Thursday, Thalapathy Vijay’s final film “Jana Nayagan” remained stable yesterday, showcasing the actor’s megastardom among fans. The political-drama-actioner raked in ₹21.15 crore on Friday and now stands at ₹63.85 crore.

With no competition, the film is looking at a huge Saturday and is expected to hit the ₹100 crore mark. While the record of “Leo” will remain unbeaten, “Jana Nayagan” has a chance to overtake “The GOAT” to become the actor’s second fastest ₹100-crore film in India.

Vijay’s fastest 100 crore films
Leo: ₹137.5 crore (3 Days)
The GOAT: ₹103 crore (3 Days)
Beast: ₹103 crore (3 Days)
Master: ₹105.6 crore (6 Days)
Varisu: ₹104.2 crore (6 Days)

Apart from Tamil Nadu, the film has performed significantly in Karnataka, where it grossed ₹14.47 crore in two days, followed by Kerala with ₹7.50 crore.

Despite the phenomenal performance of “Jana Nayagan,” “Leo” remains irreplaceable, as the movie enjoyed pan-India success unlike the actor’s final film. It is Vijay’s highest grosser with ₹341.04 crore in India and ₹605.90 crore globally. On the other hand, the collections of the H Vinoth directorial have been impacted by online piracy, which happened almost a month before its official box-office arrival.

The film was initially slated for release on January 9 this year. However, it was stuck with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), delaying it at the ticket windows for over six months. It received an ‘A’ certificate earlier this month.

The film marks Bobby Deol’s second Tamil outing after Suriya-starrer “Kanguva.”
