The pre-Diwali period has turned out to be a disappointing phase for the Indian box office. “Prahaar” and “Nayyi Navelli” underperformed last week; “Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar” failed to find an audience, while “Udta Teer” managed to post a passable opening weekend. It was Rajinikanth’s “Jailer 2,” which did the heavy lifting at the ticket windows.

‘Jailer 2’ Set To Enter ₹400 Crore Club

Despite multiple new releases, Rajinikanth’s sequel remained the top choice among moviegoers. It collected ₹64.35 crore in its second weekend, taking its domestic total to ₹398.70 crore. The film is expected to cross the ₹400 crore mark this afternoon, becoming the second Tamil film to achieve the milestone after “2.0”.

‘Udta Teer’ Shows Healthy Growth Over The Weekend

After a below-average start, Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s satirical espionage comedy witnessed an upward swing on Saturday and Sunday, taking its opening weekend collection to ₹19.55 crore. The film’s hold over the weekdays will be crucial in determining its box-office fate.

‘Premada Oorali’ Enters ₹100 Crore Club

The small-scale Kannada film continued its strong run in its fifth weekend, raking in ₹8.85 crore, taking its total collection to ₹101.22 crore. It is now the second Kannada film this year to hit a century after Yash’s “Toxic.”

‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ Continues to Mint Money

Ajay Devgn’s crime thriller drama remained steady in its fourth weekend, adding ₹7.05 crore to its tally, taking its grand total to ₹368.90 crore.

Prominent Holdover Releases Crash

Among the prominent holdover releases, “Nayyi Navelli” and “Prahaar” witnessed a steep decline at the box office. Meanwhile, “Ranabaali,” which also underperformed given its scale and budget, collected ₹ 7.8 crore in its second week, bringing its total to ₹53 crore.
