Destin Daniel Cretton May Return to Direct Tom Holland’s Next Spider-Man Movie
Destin Daniel Cretton is returning to direct the next “Spider-Man” movie. According to Deadline, the filmmaker has many movies lined up, including a Spider-Man and a Naruto film.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which was released on July 31, has grossed over 2 billion worldwide, as of September 2026.

Some time back, he opened up about another Spidey movie, while keeping things under the wraps. Cretton had stated, “I don’t want to stop that conversation by putting my opinion in the middle of it… Knowing there will be another movie, that conversation will continue in the writer’s room as we figure out - if we figure out - what we’re going to do next. What’s so cool about these movies… the fans are so engaged. Everybody on our side is listening to everything. Those are conversations we’ve had in the writer’s room as well, and I think it’s fun that everybody is participating not just in analyzing this movie, but potentially in creating whatever happens in the next one.”
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" added Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey to the cast. Apart from Tom Holland’s Spidey, The returning characters included Zendaya’s MJ, Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and more.

During an appearance in “Happy Sad Confused” Podcast, Holland had opened up about his stint as Spider-Man and whether there are plans of someone else replacing him. “There’s a whole plan that we have been working on for, I would say, since we finished Spider-Man: No Way Home. It’s laid out. It’s gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting,” he added.
