The Three Aces Of ‘The Alliance India’

In the Indian reality television space,, “The Alliance India" and "Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa" are the only two names that come up in contention. While Indian adaptations of international shows are quite the rage at the moment, “The Alliance India” is positioning itself withdrawn from the crowd. A game of strategy, manipulation and betrayal, it leans in a different direction  from shows like “Bigg Boss" or "Roadies," which are physically demanding. And while “Alliance” has celebs who have previously appeared on “Bigg Boss” (Kushal Tandon and  Ravi Kishan) the show tests a totally different side of the contestants.

The series is an adaptation of the Dutch reality show created by media baron John de Mol Jr and Talpa Studios. So far, the Indian version has got an audience that’s not the typical reality show audience. Here is how "The Alliance India" is breaking the mould of hyper and vapid Indian unscripted reality content.

Niche Viewership

Indian reality shows like "Bigg Boss," "Roadies" and "Splitsvilla" rely heavily on drama. This has spilled onto "Khatron Ke Khiladi" as well. "The Alliance India" is different as there are no kitchen fights over food, verbal spats near toilets or curated couple romances that feel totally fake. The show is aimed at a thinking audience that cares more about planning, strategy and tasks.

More brains than brawn

While verbal duels are a part of every reality show, "The Alliance India" is clearly a competition where contestants need to do a lot more than just grab footage. Teams and leaders switch after every episode as people play to win. Viewers are enjoying the guessing game of who will betray his or her team to move ahead in the show. It is about psychological warfare, dealing with shifting loyalties, outsmarting opponents and creating alliances.

Fans are enjoying how contestants like Arslan Goni, Zaid Darbar, Kushal Tandon, Nikhil Chinapa are playing. In the past few years, tasks in "Bigg Boss" have become predictable. This show fills that void.

Sharp Format

The format of the show is such that  its only for a few weeks as compared to other reality shows that are on air for months. It’s in "The Traitors India" format, which has worked in India. The show is about deception. Friends become rivals and vice versa. Contestants know they cannot count on anyone to survive the game. It needs mental strength to endure this cutthroat format and creativity to push ahead in the game.
