Producer Anshul Garg Signs ‘Awarapan 2’ Director Nitin Kakkar For His Next (EXCLUSIVE)
‘Awarapan 2’ by director Nitin Kakkar released today (August 14, 2026) and has already landed his next project, an upcoming untitled production by Anshul Garg, Variety India has exclusively learned. Garg delivered one of 2025’s biggest musical hits with the Harshvardhan Rane-Sonam Bajwa led “Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat” directed by Milap Zaveri. Meanwhile, Kakkar’s latest release, also a romantic musical, is all set to become one of the biggest hits of 2026, taking a bumper opening in the range of ₹22–23 crore.
Garg and Kakkar’s collaboration brings together two names with hits in concurrent years. Says the producer, “Nitin is a fantastic filmmaker and I’m really looking forward to collaborating with him on this project. We have a strong script in place, and I’m excited about what we are creating this together.” The filmmaker further reveals that Kakkar will direct a romantic musical for Garg and that the team wants to start shooting later this year.
