‘Awarapan 2’: CBFC Clears Emraan Hashmi’s Film With UA 16+ Rating, Orders 9 Modifications Before Release
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared Emraan Hashmi’s “Awarapan 2” with UA 16+ certification. The committee has asked the makers to implement nine modifications before its theatrical release. The changes include the toning down of violent scenes, muted expletives and more.
The Board has asked the makers to add disclaimers for the depiction of drug use and child trafficking scenes, include the film’s title in Hindi, superimpose anti-drug and anti-smoking static messages at several points in the film, replace obscene words in the audio and the subtitle, reduce violence in one of the scenes, while deleting and adjusting scenes with severe violence, and adjustment of the end credit scroll as per the music.

The film has been approved for viewers aged 16 years or above. However, parental guidance has been made mandatory. The CBFC statement reads, “After examination of the film by the members of the Examining Committee mentioned below and on the recommendation of the said Examining Committee, the Board hereby certifies that the film is fit for public exhibition with an endorsement of caution that the question as to whether any child below the age of 16 years may be allowed to see the film should be considered by the parents or guardian of such child, and also subject to excision and modification listed in part II on the reverse.”

Overall, the Board directed 4 minutes of deletions and 20 seconds of replacements. The final runtime of the movie has been approved to 140 minutes and 20 seconds and it will be released in Hindi with English subtitles.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar, “Awarapan 2” stars Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. It is slated to hit the theatres on August 14.
