The first week of December in 2026 promises to be an interesting week at the box office with a three-way clash between Ajay Devgn-Sanjay Dutt’s “Ranger,” Prabhas’s “Fauzi” and Akshay Kumar’s untitled next with director Anees Bazmee. However, Devgn made this battle more intriguing by replacing the jungle adventure flick with the fifth installment of his popular comedy franchise.
Variety India has exclusively learned that “Ranger” has been pushed to 2027 and its release date taken by another Ajay Devgn-starrer - “Golmaal 5.”
With the reshuffling of releases, the clash has become bigger, considering the box-office pull of the director-actor combo of Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn.

While the December 4 clash is dominated by the comedy genre with “Golmaal 5” and Akshay’s film, Prabhas’s “Fauzi” can emerge as a big winner due to the "Baahubali" actor's pan-India stardom and the goodwill of director Hanu Raghavapudi, whose last release “Sita Ramam” won a lot of appreciation.
With “Golmaal 5” entering the equation, the box office battle will be a treat for audiences.
Apart from Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Kemmu and Sharman Joshi (marking his return to the franchise after the first part) in prominent roles, "Golmaal 5" also marks the return of Johny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari and Ashwini Kalsekar.
Interestingly, the franchise has completed two decades this year. It began with “Golmaal: Fun Unlimited” in 2006. Through its four parts to date, the franchise has amassed over ₹600 crore at the box office worldwide.
On the other hand, Prabhas’s “Fauzi” stars Imanvi alongside veteran actors Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Bhanu Chander and Jayapradha in pivotal roles.
Talking about Akshay’s next, the untitled venture also stars Vidya Balan and Raashi Khanna in lead roles.
