Suriya has made a roaring comeback in 2026 after a run of underwhelming films (“Retro,” “Kanguva” and “Etharkkum Thunindhavan”). In May 2026, he delivered a blockbuster with the RJ Balaji directorial “Karuppu” (₹198.18 crore) and now, the actor’s latest release “Vishwanath and Sons” has collected ₹77.82 crore net in 6 days and is expected to cross the ₹100 crore mark by the end of its second weekend.
With this feat, Suriya will become the second actor in Tamil cinema’s history to deliver two ₹100 crore films in a single year after Thalapathy Vijay (C. Joseph Vijay). The current Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu achieved this milestone in 2023 with “Varisu” (₹178.14 crore) and “Leo” (₹341.04 crore).
