Ektaa Kapoor’s ‘Naagin – The Film’ Next: Viral Nag Panchami Announcement Hints At Bigger Plans (EXCLUSIVE)
One of Indian television’s most enduring franchises, Ektaa Kapoor's "Naagin" franchise, currently headlined by Priyanka Chahar Choudhary and Namik Paul, has succeeded on both the TRP charts and streaming platforms. It ended with ratings of 1.6 and was in the top five of Ormax's most-streamed shows for 2026 so far.
On the auspicious occasion of Nag Panchami, Kapoor wished fans and also shared that "Naagin" was all set to get a bigger platform. This has left fans of the franchise wondering if a "Naagin" movie with actresses – Mouni Roy, Adaa Khan, Tejasswi Prakash and Priyanka Chahar Choudhary – is in the offing.

A source from the production house informs Variety India that Ektaa Kapoor has big plans for her favorite franchise. “Ektaa is keen to rope in a prominent Hindi film actress for a film version which will be filmed on a much bigger canvas than the show. She is bullish on the film, and is actively looking for a face popular with a pan-Indian audience.” The timing for the “Naagin” film is ripe with Kartik Aaryan's "Naagzilla", backed by Dharma Productions, releasing in 2027. There is a possibility that the two productions coming together to create the ‘Nag Universe’.
It is also reliably learnt that she is in talks with Netflix for a series that combines the mysticism, romance and supernatural quotient of the show. After the success of "Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa," the streaming giant is keen to collaborate with her for another project. She has discussed her dream with all her favorite onscreen Naagins, who will feature in whichever project she takes up.
The first season of "Naagin" aired in 2015 with Mouni Roy and Arjun Bijlani in the lead. It was a blockbuster season that generated huge numbers on TRP charts. The first three seasons were hits. However, season four and five of "Naagin" did not fare well. The series bounced back with "Naagin 6," headlined by "Bigg Boss 15" winner Tejasswi Prakash.
Fans might not have to wait long as the next announcement might happen within a month or even earlier. Taking "Naagin" to a bigger platform has been her long cherished dream. This time the momentum is real and rapid much like the determined slithery reptiles on her show.
