After delivering a global blockbuster with “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” recently, the Marvel Cinematic Universe now awaits a bigger box office monster: “Avengers: Doomsday.” Disney opened the advance booking for the 39th film in the MCU over the weekend and received an extraordinary response from audiences.
In the first two days of general presales, the film has raced 65% ahead of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” globally, as per The Wrap. The comparison between the two films is inevitable, since the Spidey movie recently entered the $2 billion club and is 2026’s highest-grossing film.
However, there’s a huge timeline difference between them: advance bookings for “Avengers: Doomsday” opened roughly four months before its release date (December 18). On the other hand, the advance bookings of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” opened 45 days before its theatrical release.

The Spider-Man film had a record-breaking run at the box office with a global opening of $927 million — second only to “Avengers: Endgame” in the all-time list. It recently became the eighth film to cross the $2 billion mark in the history of world cinema.
While the early thunderous response in presales has already indicated that “Avengers: Doomsday” is set to become a global phenomenon, it would be interesting to see whether it emerges as the biggest grosser of all time with the help of advance booking sales.
Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Hayley Atwell and Tom Hiddleston, among others.
Bankrolled by Kevin Feige and Jonathan Schwartz, the film is written by Michael Waldron, Stephen McFeely, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
