‘Avengers: Doomsday’: The MCU Film Generates $50 Million in Pre-Sales Three Months Before Its Release
Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming biggie, “Avengers: Doomsday,” is shattering records at the box office even before its grand arrival in cinema halls. After opening to a phenomenal response in advance bookings in mid-August, the superhero flick has now pulled in $50 million in domestic pre-sales. The box office milestone showcases the anticipation for the film, which is more than three months away from its official release.
This major update was undisclosed by Disney, showcasing its trajectory at the ticket window. Out of the total pre-sales collections, more than 70% is contributed by Infinity Vision screenings, which was established by the studio as a premium large theatrical format. While unveiling the format at CinemaCon, the studio shared that it is “the biggest, brightest and most immersive cinematic experience” for cinegoers.

While the $50 million figure puts “Avengers: Doomsday” well ahead of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” ($40 million), it’s still behind “Avengers: Endgame” ($60 million) and the current pre-sales leader, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which collected $72 million.
With the current anticipation and calculations, “Avengers: Doomsday” might become the first film to enter the $3 billion club at the global box office.
Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Hayley Atwell and Tom Hiddleston, among others.
Bankrolled by Kevin Feige and Jonathan Schwartz, the film is written by Michael Waldron, Stephen McFeely, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
