‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’: Why Abhishek Pathak moved on to Ravi Basrur from DSP (EXCLUSIVE)
Ajay Devgn is all set to return as Vijay Salgaonkar with “Drishyam 3.” The first film in the Hindi version of the franchise, directed by Nishikant Kamat, was a remake of Mohanlal’s 2013 film written and directed by Jeethu Joseph. Its Malayalam sequel, “Drishyam 2,” was released during COVID, and with the OTT boom at the time, many wondered whether that would affect the prospects of the Hindi version. However, writer-director Abhishek Pathak partly modified the Hindi sequel. It proved to be a big hit and entered the Rs 200 crore club.
Now, Pathak has written, directed and co-produced “Drishyam The Conclusion,” set for release on October 2, 2026. The film is an entirely original story and has no connection to the Malayalam “Drishyam 3”, which was released in May 2026.

The music for the Hindi “Drishyam” was composed by Vishal Bhardwaj, and that of “Drishyam 2” by Devi Sri Prasad a.k.a. DSP Rockstar, whose title song and the other two tracks, “Sahi Galat” and “Saath Hum Rahen,” along with the mood-inducing background score, were highly appreciated.
The music of “Drishyam The Conclusion” is by Ravi Basrur, of “KGF” fame. Basrur has also scored music for Devgn’s “Bholaa” (2022) and “Singham Again” (2024).
At the trailer launch of the film in Goa, DSP’s theme track from “Drishyam 2” played on a loop throughout the event. When asked the reason behind changing the composer, Pathak replied, “If you liked the music of “Drishyam 2”, you will love the music this time as well. Devi Sri Prasad’s dates were difficult to get as he is also making his acting debut now with “Yellamma” besides his other projects as a composer. I needed a composer who would have sufficient time to work on my songs and score.”

The film brings back the much-loved cast, including Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav as the Salgaonkars, Tabu and Rajat Kapoor as the Deshmukhs; and other pivotal characters like Kamlesh Sawant (as inspector Lakshman Gaitonde) and Saurabh Shukla (as screenwriter Murad Ali). The new entrants are Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj.
The film releases globally in cinemas on October 2.
