‘The Odyssey’ Box Office: Christopher Nolan Scores His Second ₹100 Crore Film After ‘Oppenheimer’
After enjoying a phenomenal opening weekend, Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” has managed to remain steady on weekdays at the Indian box office. So far, the historical epic has grossed ₹100.38 crore (net ₹84.15 crore), and with these collections, the film has emerged as the director’s second film to hit the ₹100 crore mark after “Oppenheimer,” which collected ₹157.50 crore (net ₹131.73 crore) during its theatrical run. With a free week at the ticket windows, the film is expected to surpass the Cillian Murphy-starrer to become Nolan’s biggest hit in India.
Dominance of the Original version
The English version continued its dominance across the metro cities through premium formats, contributing close to 80 percent of the collections with net figures of ₹67.21 crore. On the other hand, the combined net collections of the Hindi, Telugu and Tamil dubbed versions remain at ₹17.68 crore.
Will ‘Jana Nayagan’ Affect ‘The Odyssey’ at the Box Office?
With Thalapathy Vijay’s farewell film, “Jana Nayagan,” opening to a roaring response, the Christopher Nolan film is expected to slow down at the box office, especially in the Tamil Nadu market, where the English version of “The Odyssey” performed phenomenally.
