Tom Holland Says Fred Astaire Biopic Training Leaves Him ‘Excited and In Absolute Dread’

Tom Holland has finally opened up about working on a Fred Astaire biopic, five years after revealing that he'd be leading the Paul King-directed movie. During a chat with Good Morning America, Holland shares that he is extensively training to emulate Astaire’s dance moves.

While conversing, Holland reveals that he loves the challenges that come with the training. The star also shares that he is planning to go back to training himself, once he finishes the promotional tours for "The Odyssey" and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." "I did my first few rehearsals recently, and it both filled me with excitement and absolute dread because I’ve got so much work to do to try and do Fred proud," Holland further adds.

He also reveals that he has no desire to use doubles, and would like to dance onscreen by himself. He also aims to shoot the songs in one take, as Astaire would have done it.

Holland had revealed being cast in the film in 2021, while promoting "Spider-Man: No Way Home." While speaking to AP, Holland had shared, "The script came in a week ago; I haven’t read it yet. They haven’t given it to me. I know Amy Pascal has the script. She Facetimed me earlier when I was in the bath, and we had a lovely FaceTime. But I will be playing Fred Astaire."
