Suriya returns to an unfinished investigation in the trailer of “Scene”, the upcoming film directed by Jithu Madhavan. The film follows DSP Inbaraj, played by Suriya, who is drawn back into a case he had left unresolved years earlier. This time, the investigation brings him together with a group whose unconventional methods appear to create as many complications as solutions.
The trailer establishes the central mystery while leaning into a chaotic, comic tone. As Inbaraj attempts to piece together the case, the characters around him bring an unpredictable energy to the investigation.
Naslen and Nazriya Nazim play key roles in the film, which appears to move between police procedural elements, action and comedy. Rather than revealing the full nature of the mystery, the trailer focuses on the personalities at the centre of the investigation and the situations that emerge as the case progresses. The glimpse also brings Suriya into the world of Madhavan, the filmmaker behind the Malayalam hits “Romancham” and “Aavesham”, known for building stories around eccentric ensembles and escalating chaos.

The trailer for “Scene” plays less like a conventional crime thriller and more like an increasingly unhinged ride through an investigation gone off the rails. Jithu Madhavan appears to bring his flair for eccentric characters and escalating chaos to the police procedural, with the humour emerging from the personalities and their unpredictable interactions rather than undercutting the mystery itself.
The glimpse moves at a brisk pace, shifting between action and absurdity, while Suriya’s straight-faced presence provides an interesting counterpoint to the mayhem unfolding around him. If the trailer is any indication, “Scene” is aiming for a mystery where the journey to the answer could be as chaotic as the crime itself.
Written and directed by Madhavan, “Scene” stars Suriya, Naslen and Nazriya Nazim alongside Lal, Anandaraj and John Vijay. The film has music by Sushin Shyam, cinematography by Vineeth Augustian and editing by Ajmal Sabu.
“Scene” is produced under the banners of 2D Entertainment and Zhagaram Studios and is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 6.
