The Show Goes On: Heightened Security Fails To Dampen Hindi Film Industry’s Star-Studded Diwali Celebrations
Hosting lavish Diwali bashes is a time-honoured tradition for the industry's biggest power players, transforming Mumbai into a constellation of high-profile gatherings where rivals mingle as friends. Stepping out in their finest traditional couture for the card parties.
At the heart of this grand tradition are the industry’s iconic anchors — the powerhouse hosts whose annual invitations are the most coveted tickets in town. These legendary gatherings each carry a distinct signature, transforming their residences into landmarks of festive celebration
This year, despite the security risk, the industry is going all out to celebrate Diwali. Top producers like Anand Pandit, Ramesh Taurani and Ekta Kapoor, along with the Bachchans, Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor and couturier Manish Malhotra, have all fixed dates for their yearly gatherings.

Actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra, who has been a regular host in previous years, will not be hosting a Diwali party this year. Anand Pandit's party falls on Friday, October 30. For the producer, the festival goes well beyond lights and sweets. He says, “Diwali is about gratitude, family and friendship, and about reuniting the people who have supported him along the way. “What began as a one-off gathering has become a cherished annual ritual, and I enjoy greeting my well-wishers with the same enthusiasm each time.”
The evening, he promises, will be full of warmth and togetherness. In his view, the glamour matters little next to the guests who make the night special. Many eminent personalities from the film business have joined him in previous years, and he expects many familiar faces this year, too.
Ramesh Taurani will welcome starry guests into his home on November 3. He has been organising Diwali parties for more than ten years. Salman Khan's presence has traditionally been the evening's biggest draw.
The producer points out that the festival carries real weight for the business. Some of the year's largest releases arrive around Diwali. At the party, he says the guestlist is made up of friends and colleagues who have worked with his banner over the years, and that the focus is on food and conversation, not card games.
Taurani fondly recalled the Diwali parties once hosted by cinema legend Amitabh Bachchan, which he considers the finest the film industry has seen. Bachchan stopped hosting them several years ago, and Taurani said the gap is still felt across the film community.
Manish Malhotra's party takes place at his Bandra residence on November 5. Veteran actor Rekha has long been the centrepiece of the evening, and the occasion is widely seen as a celebration of traditional Indian clothing, with guests arriving in their finest festive outfits.
This year's edition will be smaller than usual. "It's on the 5th, but this time it's intimate, much lesser people," Malhotra confirmed.
Ekta Kapoor closes the run on November 7 at her home. Her guest list features prominent figures from the film and television industry, and the card session remains a major attraction. Attendees range from contemporaries of her father, veteran actor Jeetendra, to friends of Ekta and her brother Tusshar Kapoor from both cinema and television.
With these and possibly more celebrations, the Hindi film industry has a crowded festive season ahead. Beyond the dazzling paparazzi flashes and the glamour, these parties serve as a powerful testament to the industry's communal spirit, proving that beneath the competitive veneer of showbiz, Bollywood remains a tight-knit family bound by tradition, light, and togetherness
