The trailer of “Eetha” offers a first look at Shraddha Kapoor as Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, the celebrated Lavani and Tamasha performer whose life forms the basis of Laxman Utekar’s biographical drama. Set against the world of Maharashtra’s folk theatre, the film follows a woman who made her mark in an art form traditionally shaped by demanding performance circuits, social hierarchies and the struggle for recognition.
The trailer moves between the spectacle of the stage and the circumstances surrounding Vithabai’s life away from it. Lavani performances, elaborate costumes and the energy of Tamasha provide the visual setting, but the focus gradually shifts to the woman behind the performer. It hints at the challenges of sustaining a career in a demanding folk tradition, the personal costs of her ambition and her determination to establish an identity through her art. Shraddha’s portrayal also calls for a physical performance, with the trailer placing considerable emphasis on the movement and expressive vocabulary associated with Lavani.
Randeep Hooda plays Anna Sawant Merchant, Vithabai’s husband. The supporting cast includes Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Anant Joshi, Siddharth Jadhav, Akshara Singh and Ulka Gupta. While the trailer establishes the central characters and the cultural setting, it leaves several details of the film’s narrative under wraps.
