‘Satluj’: Infuriated Industry Stands Up for Diljit Dosanjh-Starrer, Rallies Against Removal From OTT
Diljit Dosanjh starrer “Satluj” has been officially taken off from the OTT platform Zee5, 48 hours of releasing. The film, which was streaming from July 3, is now unavailable to watch in India. Directed by Honey Trehan, "Satluj" was earlier titled “Punjab ’95.” It is inspired by the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. The film’s sudden removal has drawn attention and reactions from the actors, directors and artistes.

Actor Ranvir Shorey took to social media to speak about the developments, "Utterly disappointing to hear Satluj had been pulled! Have been waiting to watch it! Directors Sanjay Gupta and Onir also shared their disappointments. Gupta wrote, "More than movie the way SATLUJ has been pulled is gaining momentum (sic)." Onir shared, "Watched only once and then this thing happened. Infuriating and very very unfortunate (sic)."

Soni Razdan reacted to Zee5’s original post on “Satluj” being taken down from the platform. She had commented, “Oh noooo (sad emoji) (sic)."

The OTT platform had earlier stated that it had to take the decision to remove the film due to "current developments." The platform had added that it remained committed to exploring "every appropriate avenue through due process" to bring the film back to Indian audiences. In its recent statement, it has urged fans and well-wishers to not resort to piracy to watch the film. "We are hopeful and doing everything we can. Please do not support piracy. We remain committed to exploring every possible avenue to bring Satluj back to you (sic)."
Diljit Dosanjh strongly condemned the removal of the film from the platform. He had posted, "I challenge the darkness" on social media.
