Being a fan of Apple TV’s “Slow Horses” is a rewarding experience because it returns every year (sometimes twice) like clockwork, when most prestige dramas take multiple years to deliver follow-up seasons. The official trailer for “Slow Horses’ Season 6 plunges Gary Oldman’s Jackson Lamb, Jack Lowden’s River Cartwright and every other Slough House misfit into yet another high-stakes espionage game, thanks to the machinations of Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas).
The trailer begins with Lamb ambushing Taverner at her residence, demanding to know why his Slow Horses are being killed off one by one. As the rest of the team—past and present—attempts to get to safety, there’s a mysterious duo with some serious history with Slough House hunting them down with a vengeance. Speaking of other ghosts from the past, even as Lamb tells Catherine (Saskia Reeves) how, as spies, each one of them has faked their death one way or another, the follow-up scene shows River stunned by the appearance of Sid Baker (Olivia Cooke), a character who is supposedly dead since Season 1.
At the end of Season 5, the MI5 status quo pretty much returned to where it was when it all began. Taverner took her chance to reclaim her position as First Desk after Claude Whelan (James Callis) was forced to resign at the end of the season. Lamb manages to save Slough House from yet another shutdown attempt. Yet the closing scene with him shows his scarred foot, revealing another piece of his torturous Cold War past. And finally, despite everything Cartwright did, including saving Whelan’s life, he is denied a promotion and is still stuck at Slough House. With the new fatal threat looming over them, River will have to put his disgruntlement aside and work to protect everyone.
“Slow Horses” Season 6 is adapted from “Joe Country” and “Slough House,” the sixth and seventh novels in Mick Herron’s “Slough House” book series. The returning ensemble cast includes Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Jack Lowden, alongside Saskia Reeves, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Rosalind Eleazar, Joanna Scanlan, Samuel West, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, Jonathan Pryce, and Hugo Weaving. New additions include Lenny Rush.
The six-episode Season 6 of “Slow Horses” will premiere its first episode globally on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, followed by one episode weekly until October 21, 2026.
