‘Cocktail 2’ Gets Strong Opening, ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ Gears up for Bigger Second Weekend
“Cocktail 2” has brought cheer to the box office with its strong opening on Friday. The Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer romantic comedy collected ₹13 crore net on its first day, marking the first Hindi film in the last eight weeks to record a double-digit opening.
The Homi Adajania surpassed the first-day collection of its predecessor “Cocktail” (₹10.95 cr) and has emerged as Shahid Kapoor's third career-best opener following “Kabir Singh” (₹20.21 cr) and “Padmaavat” (₹19 cr). The film has managed to create decent buzz and its sudden surge in advance sales and spot-booking is a reflection that it's resonating well with audiences. The film has witnessed a strong footfall turnout, particularly in urban centers, which constitute its core target audience.
While the strong opening has provided a solid foundation, the film will have to sustain this momentum beyond the weekend for its long-term theatrical success. It's set to display a decent growth over the weekend, but how well it holds after that will determine its box office trajectory. Although the poor reviews could affect its box-office potential, the film has so far received a better response than recent rom-coms.

Driven by exceptional word-of-mouth, the film is displaying remarkable staying power. The second Friday collection of this film is over 60% more than its opening day (₹1.20 cr), highlighting the steady growth in audience acceptance.

It's now eyeing to surpass the lifetime collection of “Project Hail Mary” by tonight or tomorrow to emerge as the highest-grossing Hollywood film of this year.
The new Hollywood release, “Toy Story 5,” opened below expectations at the Indian box office. The film earned ₹90 lakhs on Friday and has yet to generate significant traction in theatres, indicating its poor theatrical outcome in India.
