Box Office Weekend Winners: ‘Dhamaal 4,’ ‘Lenin’ Dominate, ‘Idhayam Murali’ Scores Decently, ‘I, Nobody’ Disappoints

With the arrival of the biggies last Friday, the box office saw strong collections in the domestic market, especially in Hindi and Telugu markets. Meanwhile, holdover releases remain subdued at the box office and are nearing the end of their theatrical runs.

‘Dhamaal 4’ and ‘Lenin’ Enjoy Roaring First Weekend

The fourth installment of the “Dhamaal” franchise enjoyed a strong opening weekend, with phenomenal box-office growth. After earning ₹14 crore on Friday, the adventure comedy witnessed a solid upward swing on Saturday and Sunday, raking ₹22.50 crore and ₹28 crore, respectively. The film’s opening weekend collections stand at ₹64.50 crore. With the current scenario, “Dhamaal 4” has all the potential to enter the ₹100 crore club at the box office.

Akhil Akkineni’s rural action drama, “Lenin,” has turned out to be a career-defining film for the actor, becoming his first commercial success in his decade-long career. It opened at ₹7.15 crore on its first day, followed by ₹8.65 crore and ₹9.65 crore on the second and third day, taking its weekend collections to ₹25.45 crore.

‘Idhayam Murali’ Scores Decent Numbers

The coming-of-age romantic drama headlined by Atharvaa, Fahadh Faasil, Preity Mukhundhan, Kayadu Lohar, and Malavika Mohanan, among others, struck a chord with its target audience and clocked decent numbers during its first weekend. While the film collected ₹8.55 crore (Friday - ₹1.90 crore, Saturday - ₹3.15 crore and Sunday - ₹3.50 crore), it needs to hold well on weekdays to become a bona fide hit.

‘I, Nobody’ Fails To Impress

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s heist action thriller posted low numbers in its opening weekend, failing to gain momentum over its extended four-day run. It collected ₹6.41 crore and is expected to end its first week around ₹10 crore.

Holdover Releases

Among the holdover releases, Akshay Kumar’s “Welcome To The Jungle” remained steady, collecting ₹4.50 crore in its third weekend. It now stands at a total collection of ₹129.55 crore.

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s spy-thriller “Alpha” nose-dived in its second weekend, collecting ₹5.50. The film currently stands at ₹51.75 crore and might end its theatrical run at around ₹ 60 crore.
