From Salman Khan to Akshay Kumar and now Ajay Devgn, most of Hindi cinema’s biggest stars have ventured into the hosting space on television. The only Khan to have stayed away from the medium so far is Saif Ali Khan. However, in a chat with Variety India, Khan reveals he wouldn’t be averse to taking up a hosting gig. He says, “I would love to host one. It is what we call a revenue stream. Of late, so many have opened up, and why not? I am not closed to the idea of anything. I would love to do a gig on TV.”
Khan says he would need an original idea to pique his interest. With several new streaming shows in the works, does he see anything that appeals to him? He says, “Somebody was talking to me about doing a show once or twice, but it did not work out. Perhaps I was not excited or interested enough in that particular offer at that given time. Now, I think it might be the right time.”

Khan also addresses the perception that film stars look down upon content made for streaming platforms or other mediums. He believes that mindset belongs to the past. “That’s a very age-old conversation that I am supposed to be a Friday mainstream theatrical actor. I never thought like that. I am sure some people feel that way, and maybe they are right to feel that way. I can only speak for myself,” he says.
He adds that working on OTT shows has been an extremely rewarding experience. “Working on ‘Sacred Games’ was epic fun. You never felt that you were making lesser cinema. Also, we had Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane directing it. They are at the top of their game. It was a beautiful piece of film.”
On the work front, Saif Ali Khan will next be seen in “Haiwaan,” alongside Akshay Kumar. The Priyadarshan directorial is scheduled to release in theatres on September 11.
