“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” continues its dream run at the Indian box office despite the arrival of new releases. The Tom Holland-starrer has now achieved a rare feat, showcasing its sheer dominance. The superhero film, with a grand total of ₹487.65 crore, has crossed 2 crore footfalls and has become the third Hollywood film to join this club after “Titanic” and “Avengers: Endgame.”

The James Cameron-directed film featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet sold 2.70 crore tickets, out of which 2.50 crore tickets were sold during its original theatrical run and the rest were reissued between 1998 and 2001, followed by its 3D re-release in 2012.

“Avengers: Endgame” achieved the feat in 2019 with 2.15 crore footfalls. Now, after seven long years, another MCU film - “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” - has joined this elite club.

Films like “Avatar: The Way of Water” and “The Jungle Book” missed this benchmark by small margins, as they garnered 1.89 crore and 1.84 crore footfalls, respectively.

Avengers: Doomsday,” which is releasing in December this year, has the potential to challenge the long-standing record of “Titanic.” But the problem is that unlike “Avengers: Endgame,” which enjoyed a solo release, “Avengers: Doomsday” will clash with the Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya-starrer “Dune: Part Three,” followed by Shah Rukh Khan’s “King,” which will make it tougher.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which released on July 30, also stars Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Florence Pugh, Tramell Tillman, Marisa Tomei and Mark Ruffalo in prominent roles. The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Rachel O’Connor under the banners of Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios and Pascal Pictures.
