After Yash Raj Films, Shah Rukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment is all set to enter the vertical storytelling format space. The platform has been titled as Shoonya. Aashish Singh who is a producer with Red Chillies Entertainment will be heading this department. He was previously the vice-president at Yash Raj Films. The microdrama sector is one of the fastest-growing entertainment verticals in the country. Of late, we have seen major streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video and JioHotstar launching their own microdrama platforms, Fatafat and Tadka. The success of platforms like Kuku TV, Story TV, TukTuki, Bullet has encouraged Indian film companies to start their own microdrama vertical.

Shah Rukh Khan’s firm Red Chillies has its own VFX studio and film production house. The superstar has always had a keen eye on emerging business with big investments in sports and entertainment. Singh has worked with top firms like YRF, Netflix and Lyca Productions in the past. The format is attracting a lot of talent especially from the world of television. From actors to directors and technicians, the microdrama sector has become the new frontier. It seems the firm has invested substantial capital in this new sector and banners are already developing projects for Shoonya.
In an earlier conversation with Variety India, Anshita Kulshrestha, founder and CEO of TukTuki, highlighted the huge growth in the vertical segment. She said, “We are seeing a massive, undeniable demand for mobile-first entertainment. I foresee thrice as much growth in active paying users by March 2027. The hunger for authentic, bite-sized regional content in Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets is massive.”
