Shah Rukh Khan-Saif Ali Khan’s Netflix Crime Drama ‘Kartavya’ Locks Premiere Date (EXCLUSIVE)
Saif Ali Khan is coming back to Netflix. Variety India has exclusively learned that Saif's upcoming crime drama, “Kartavya,” will premiere on Netflix on May 15, 2026.
“Kartavya” follows a police officer caught in an intense moral conflict even as escalating threats endanger his family. With personal stakes rising, he is forced to confront how far he'll go to uphold his duty. Set in the heartland, the film explores the complex intersections of law, family, truth and duty. Saif plays a morally layered character, supported by a strong ensemble cast that includes Rasika Duggal, Sanjay Mishra, Saurabh Dwivedi, Zakir Hussain and Manish Chaudhari.

Produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment, the film is directed by Pulkit, who also helmed Bhumi Pednekkar-starrer “Bhakshak,” for the banner. This crime drama has been ready for three years and is finally hitting the Netflix screens, bringing back Saif to a uniformed role nearly seven years after his most popular Netflix series, “Sacred Games.” His most recent Netflix project was the Siddharth Anand-produced “Jewel Thief” last year.
Saif also has another film on this platform, “Hum Hindustani," slated for premiere later this year. The Rahul Dholakia-directorial narrates the saga of India's first general election, with Saif portraying the role of Sukumar Sen, the first Chief Election Commissioner of India. For theaters, Saif has Priyadarshan’s “Haiwaan” with Akshay Kumar, which is expected to release in the second half of this year.
Netflix has a slew of exciting feature films lined up. The upcoming slate includes Sunny Deol's “Ikka,” Taapsee Pannu's "Gandhari," Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri's “Maa Behen" and “Lust Stories 3,” among others.
