‘Run It’ Music Video Review: Stray Kids Are Pretty Poetic, But Decidedly Chaotic
Stray Kids get intense in the music video for "Run It", their pre-release single from the upcoming album "THIS & THAT." It is also the name of the popular K-Pop boy group’s world tour and offers STAYs (their fan army) a taste into a distinctly different yet surprisingly familiar new era.
Filmed and directed by the creative studio SAMSON, the boys are dressed in black with backing dancers dressed in white against a dystopian-looking post-apocalyptic setting. No complaints with the mostly on-point choreography, though, on the whole, coupled with the goth styling, is quite reminiscent of the Jackson Wang MV for “Blow” and ATEEZ’s “Wonderland.”

Lyrically, “Run It” plays out as a motivational track that also seems like a respectful nod to their roots with a march-beat that feels anthem-aspirational, but not quite there. That being said, it does shape up quite well as something you could exercise/work out to. Special shoutout to some powerful back-to-back rap portions by Han Jisung and Seo Changbin.
Returning to the track itself and the monotone-clad boys dancing in perfect sync in contrast to the dark, subdued hue painted-scenery, the calm within the chaos is almost too poetic to miss.
All in all, a great start to what promises to be an album and tour worth looking forward to, but one could do without the clearly obvious “inspirations.”
