K-Pop Boy Group OMEGA X Vocalist XEN on Indian Music: ‘It’s Great Music To Enjoy While On Vacation’ (EXCLUSIVE)

The Korean boy group OMEGA X has been busy pursuing group and solo activities in 2026. XEN (real name: Lee Jin-woo), the main vocalist released his single, “F KILLER” recently. Whether it is acting or singing, members of OMEGA X have been actively pursuing solo activities along with being a part of the group. 

Variety India spoke to XEN, a vocalist and songwriter about his solo work. Reiterating that he is extremely happy to be a part of OMEGA X, the singer shares, “Every moment spent promoting as a member of OMEGA X makes me truly happy. However, perhaps because of the unique nature of being in a group, I also have a continuing desire to fill an entire song with my own voice and my own thoughts.”

Reflecting on “F KILLER,” he states that he felt a sense of belonging with the song just after the first listen. “This is exactly my kind of song. Rather than offering meaningless comfort or surface-level empathy, I wanted to express, through music, the process of finding one’s own honest answer,” he adds.

Korean pop music is synonymous with its use of synth, electronic and techno music. The complaint that performance overshadows everything is also not uncommon. XEN accepts that this might be the case every now and then but believes that performance-driven songs have their own strengths. He elaborates, “I listen to a wide variety of genres, and since each song has a different message and strength, I tend to view the balance between vocals and performance in a positive way.”

As a vocalist, the biggest challenge is to create a visceral feeling in listeners. XEN reveals that he works hard to build that quality in his singing even as he keeps pace with his hectic idol life. He says, “I think I end up practicing a lot through recording songs. From working on my own songs to recording cover tracks, I imagine the emotions and feelings I want to express while singing. It has helped me develop my natural style. I also try to learn from artists I admire by covering their songs and incorporating the elements I find appealing.”

OMEGA X recently filmed a dance challenge with an Indian influencer and were introduced to Indian music. He opines, “I found it to be very rhythmic and full of energy. It gave me the impression that it is great music to enjoy comfortably in a relaxing setting like a vacation spot.”

XEN admits being a huge fan of vocalists like The Weeknd, Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber, Frank Ocean, and DEAN. “My comfort song these days is Justin Bieber’s ‘Yukon’,” he signs off.
