NORMAL Music Video Review: BTS’ Juxtapositioned Superstar Life is Anything But Usual in Special Digital Release
Popping champagne after selling out stadiums, bodies laced with jewels and exotic animals on their bedposts, BTS plays into people's understanding of their lives in the "NORMAL" music video. Released on July 17, it is a peephole view of their time away from the limelight after a big event.
In the video, the seven boys can be seen decked out in luxury wear, a commonplace for the singers of the biggest group in the world. It starts out with a burst of instant photos of them seemingly taken at a party and transitions into their quiet lives once the chaos dies down. Back in their rooms, lying bare-chested and drinks in hand as a musician plays a unique tune to keep them entertained, they are anything but the high-maintenance artists everyone makes them out to be.

With another tongue-in-cheek display of them standing at the urinals and it turning into a newsworthy update, BTS takes this opportunity to showcase how, despite what the world believes them to be, they’re just normal people with extraordinary lives. Singing about having a minute to turn off themselves and their lifestyles, the K-Pop icons detail how the superficial appearance of happiness is not real and a lot of pain hides beneath it all. In the end, when all of them reunite after a photoshoot, the music video shows them having a jolly good time as goofy boys with no pressure to live up to the world’s standards for them.
