‘Ramayana’ Star Yash Confirms No Scenes With Ranbir Kapoor in Part One: ‘We Both Have Our Own Kingdoms’
By Sakshi Navare,
“Ramayana” continues to build momentum, and its latest reveal is only adding to the curiosity around how the story is being structured for the big screen. Yash, who plays Ravana in the film, has now confirmed that he does not share any scenes with Ranbir Kapoor’s Ram in the first part.
Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes, Yash explained that the film’s narrative has been intentionally split to focus on individual journeys. “Interestingly we both have never come together in this (Part 1) film,” he said. “Because as we all know it is a two-part film. In the first part as Ravana I have my own Kingdom and Lord Rama has his own Kingdom.”

The approach signals a clear strategy, build both characters in isolation before bringing them together. Instead of rushing into their confrontation, Ramayana appears to be investing time in setting up scale, motivation and stakes across two parallel tracks.
Despite not sharing screen space, Yash spoke highly of Kapoor and their off-screen dynamic. “We have met a couple of times and he is such a fabulous actor,” he said. “I think it is mutual respect which has played out… when you are out to do something phenomenal and it’s as ambitious as ‘Ramayana,’ all of us have a single agenda, to give our best.”
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by producer Namit Malhotra, the film also stars Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravie Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Lara Dutta, Sheeba Chaddha and more in key roles. The first part is currently slated for a 2026 release, with the second installment expected to follow in 2027.
