Perfecting The Return: Additional Shooting for Imran Khan’s Comeback Film (EXCLUSIVE)
Nearly ten months after the completion of principal photography, Imran Khan is returning to sets for additional shoots on his much-anticipated comeback film, “Adhure Hum Adhure Tum”.
Variety India has exclusively learned that Imran's Netflix film is undergoing a brief round of additional filming following creative inputs from the streaming platform. The Netflix team apparently watched the film one month back and suggested a few refinements to enhance the narrative. Both Imran and director Danish Aslam, who had shot the film exactly as per the approved script, were receptive to the feedback and have chalked out a four-day schedule for the additional footage.

Imran has commenced the shooting today in Mumbai, with plans to wrap it up by Friday. Bhumi S. Pednekkar and Gurfateh Pirzada will also be part of this schedule. “It's not reshoots or patchwork but the additions of new footage intended purely to elevate the storytelling. Once wrapped up, the film will go back into editing again before the final cut is submitted to Netflix for approval,” said a source close to the project, adding that the film is expected to premiere in the second half of this year.
The development comes amid months of speculation surrounding the film's status, especially after Netflix missed it at their annual slate announcement in February, promoting industry chatter about its potential shelving. The film was apparently stuck in limbo following the exit of the executive who greenlit the project, with no official word from the Netflix team on when they intend to release it. The streaming giant recently renewed its focus on the film and is said to be pleased with how it has turned out, offering subtle suggestions to further polish the final product.
Described as a dysfunctional romantic dramedy packed with humour, emotional depth and chaotic relationships, “Adhure Hum Adhure Tum” marks Imran Khan's comeback to movies after a 11-year hiatus. Directed by Danish Aslam, who's best known for helming Imran and Deepika Padukone's 2010 romcom, “Break Ke Baad”, the film promises a refreshing yet nostalgic revisit to the kind of breezy entertainers Imran has been best known for.
