Kareena Kapoor Khan In Talks To Star Opposite Salman Khan in Raj & DK’s Superhero Spectacle (EXCLUSIVE)

In what is shaping up to be one of the most exciting collaborations in the Hindi film industry in recent times, Salman Khan and filmmaker duo Raj & DK (of 'The Family Man' fame) for a superhero project. Adding intrigue to this ambitious project, Variety India has reliably learned that Kareena Kapoor Khan is in advanced talks with the duo to play the film's leading lady.

Things are progressing positively for the actress to join the project. Although the actress hasn't formally signed the project, she has responded enthusiastically to her role and verbally committed interest. Salman is believed to have personally reached out to her, speeding up the conversation. Although there have been reports about Samantha Ruth Prabhu playing the female lead, Kareena remains the frontrunner for the female lead.

If it materialises, this would mark Salman and Kareena's fifth collaboration -- their first in over a decade since Kabir Khan's 2015 drama “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”. Their other memorable collaborations including “Kyon Ki...,” “Main Aur Mrs Khanna,” and “Bodyguard.” Salman and Kareena share a great rapport on and off screen and have tried to work together again for years, and this project could potentially be the one that finally brings them together on-screen.

Produced by Atul Agnihotri and Mythri Movie Makers, the yet-untitled film will present Salman in a never-seen-before avatar as he steps into the role of an ageing superhero who's drawn back into action by circumstances beyond his control, eventually leading him into a larger conflict. Envisioned on a massive production scale, the film is believed to be one of its kind high-concept entertainer, blending Raj & DK’s signature mix of sharp humour and stylised action.

The film will mark the director duo's return to theatrical feature filmmaking nearly a decade after “A Gentleman” (2017) and following a successful career in the streaming space with titles like “The Family Man,” “Farzi,” “Citadel: Honey Bunny” and “Guns And Gulaabs.”

Salman is expected to commence shooting for this film around October-November 2026, right after finishing his Vamshi Paidipally film. The action entertainer is currently being shot in Mumbai with a scheduled release planned during Eid 2027. Meanwhile, Salman's “Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace” remains in limbo, with no clarity on its new release date since its postponement in March.

Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor Khan will next be seen in Meghna Gulzar's “Daayra,” which is gearing up for a theatrical release later this year. The actress was last seen in the 2024 box office blockbusters "Crew" and "Singham Again."
