Ed Sheeran has opened up about collaborating with Shah Rukh Khan, Arijit Singh and music composer duo Sachin-Jigar for “Tu Mil Jaaye,” a song from the upcoming film “King.” The singer revealed that his association with the project came about after Shah Rukh introduced him to Sachin-Jigar during his last visit to India. Ed also shared that he wrote and recorded his verse for the song on the same night.

Taking to social media, Ed recalled his first meeting with Shah Rukh and said the actor had expressed his desire to have him record a song for one of his films. “When I first met Shah Rukh, he said I must make a song to be in his next movie and also be my first Bollywood song. We’ve gotten to know each other over the years and I love him."

Ed further revealed that he had visited Shah Rukh's house during his last trip to India to request a cameo from the actor in the music video for “Sapphire,” his song featuring Arijit Singh. He added, “Last time I was in India, I went to his house to get him to shoot a cameo in the Sapphire music video for me and @arijitsingh (Arijit Singh). He introduced me to @sachinjigar (Sachin-Jigar) that day and I wrote and recorded my verse for Tu Mil Jaaye for his movie King that night. I love that Arijit is singing on it with me too, all my favourite people on one project. King is out December 24th and Tu Mil Jaaye is out everywhere now X. [sic]”

“Tu Mil Jaaye” brings together Ed Sheeran and Arijit Singh on vocals, with Sachin-Jigar composing the track. The song is now available across streaming platforms, while “King,” starring Shah Rukh Khan, is scheduled to release in theatres on December 24.
