‘Love in Disguise’ Actor Seorina on Working in Indian Films: ‘I Want to Act in the Female Version of ‘3 Idiots” (EXCLUSIVE)
“Love in Disguise” brings together the familiar tropes of undercover identities and cross-dressing in a murder mystery wrapped in a workplace rom-com. The Korean drama stars Yim Siwan and Seorina in the lead roles and is adapted from the web novel “Why You Don’t Know It’s a Girl?”
In a conversation with Variety India, the two actors speak about the possibility of working in Indian cinema. Yim reveals that he has been drawn to Indian films for some time, with several leaving a lasting impression on him, including “3 Idiots.” Elaborating on his admiration, he says, “I think the lead characters in ‘3 Idiots’ are roles that every actor would want to play. Also, I was blown away by the beautiful aesthetics of the film ‘Life of Pi’. It would be a great honor to work with the director Ang Lee.”

Seorina shares his enthusiasm and says she would love to explore Indian cinema herself. In fact, she has a particular project in mind. “Since Siwan brought it up, I think it’d be great to try and make a female version of ‘3 Idiots’. I’d be totally up for it if there’s a role for me.”
The actress is also keen to experience the industry’s approach to comedy firsthand. “I think I connect with Indian comedy, so if I could go there in person and learn more about comedy, that would be great,” she adds.
“Love in Disguise” follows Kang Jae Hee (Seorina), who goes undercover as a man to join the security team of Yoon Yi Jun (Yim Siwan) as his personal assistant to investigate his possible involvement in a murder. The 12-episode K-drama premiered on October 19 and is streaming on Prime Video in India.
