While the Indian film industry has filmmakers like SS Rajamouli, Rajkumar Hirani, Mani Ratnam, Atlee, Prashanth Neel and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who enjoy box office pull that matches lead stars, over the years, several international directors have carved a distinct place for themselves in India and delivered money-spinners purely on their craft and storytelling. James Cameron: ₹715.60 crore
The visionary Canadian filmmaker and deep-sea explorer, who revolutionized cinematic CGI and 3D technology, has helmed several global blockbusters over a career spanning more than four decades. Among the international directors, his films have the maximum collections in India, with “Titanic” (₹30 crore including re-releases), “Avatar” (₹101 crore), “Avatar: The Way Of Water” (₹391.40 crore) and “Avatar: Fire And Ash” (₹193.20 crore) being his biggest money-spinners

The American filmmaker has garnered popularity for directing the Spider-Man films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU): “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (₹43.89 crore), “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (₹84.83 crore) and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (₹217.10 crore), which collectively earned ₹345.82 crore at the Indian box office.
Jon Favreau: ₹344.60
After delivering decent success like “Iron Man” (₹8 crore) and “Iron Man 2” (₹15 crore) in the Indian market, the actor and filmmaker delivered smash hits with “The Jungle Book” (₹188 crore) and “The Lion King” (₹133.60 crore).
James Wan: ₹275.12 crore
The Malaysian-born Australian filmmaker is one of the most versatile directors in the current generation. He has impressed the audience by exploring different genres, including horror, superhero and action. His filmography includes “The Conjuring” (₹25 crore), “Furious 7” (₹108 crore), “The Conjuring 2” (₹61.78 crore), “Aquaman” (₹55 crore), “Malignant” (₹0.12 crore) and “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” (₹25.22 crore).
