CINTAA President Poonam Dhillon On The ‘Don 3’ Controversy: ‘Ranveer Singh Could Have Involved Us’ (EXCLUSIVE)

The escalating friction between Ranveer Singh and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) over the “Don 3” fallout has sent shockwaves through the industry. Now, the Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), the apex body representing actors, has finally broken its silence.

Speaking exclusively to Variety India, veteran actor and CINTAA President Poonam Dhillon expresses her surprise and concern over how the entire situation has unfolded. Dhillon reveals that despite Ranveer Singh being a prominent member of CINTAA, the association was completely bypassed by all parties involved before the drastic “non-cooperation directive” was issued.

While the media has been abuzz with reports of a ₹45 crore loss suffered by Excel Entertainment due to Ranveer’s abrupt exit from “Don 3,” Dhillon stated that CINTAA is currently operating in an informational vacuum.

Poonam Dhillon says, “CINTAA as an association would have liked to be at least approached by both the parties or either of the parties if there was a problem. But since we were not approached either by the artists or by the production or by the Federation, we are a bit at a loss for what to say because we don’t have the detailed information.”

Refusing to take sides without knowing the ground realities, she adds, “Till I have the right information, I cannot give an opinion on a situation because what we have heard already is what we have read in the media. It’s a very strange situation to be in because it’s one of our members, but neither has the artist or the producer or the Federation informed us or taken us into confidence.”

Ask her about the severe impact this directive will have on the actor’s career, Dhillon opines that the situation could have been de-escalated. “We could have tried to resolve the issue. That is what our association is there for - to resolve such issues or for disputes or any kind of problems which come between an actor and a producer. Ranveer, being a part of CINTAA, could have involved us and approached us so we could have tried to resolve the issue in a more amicable way,” she explained.

Maintaining neutrality about who is at fault, the veteran actor has a message for the fraternity on professional ethics and commitment. She shares, “I would like every actor to keep their commitments in the best possible way. If there are any issues, they should handle them and, if needed, approach the association, and we can resolve them together. Because the fact is that we don’t really know much. So I cannot say that he is wrong or [they are] wrong. I don’t know.”
