The “Mirzapur” universe has built a loyal following with its high-stakes drama, complex characters and gritty portrayal of crime and power in Uttar Pradesh. Since its debut in 2018, the series has run for three seasons over six years. The ensemble made its big-screen debut with the hugely successful “Mirzapur: The Movie” that released in cinemas on September 4.
Vijay Varma appeared in Seasons 2 and 3 in dual roles as brothers Bharat Tyagi (Bade) and Shatrughan “Shatru” Tyagi (Chhote). By the end of Season 3, one brother is shot dead and the other assumes his identity to deceive their family. It remains unknown whether the next part of the series will feature either character.

Vijay Varma featured in Seasons 2 and 3 of the show, playing the dual roles of twin brothers Bharat Tyagi (Bade) and Shatrughan “Shatru” Tyagi (Chhote). By the end of the second season, Bade Tyagi is shot dead, while Chhote assumes his identity to deceive their family. The fate of his character remains a talking point among fans.
In a conversation with Variety India about his absence from “Mirzapur: The Movie,” the actor says, “Since the film is set around the first Season of ‘Mirzapur’ and the Tyagis were not a part of it in that timeline, they are not in the first installment of ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’.”
Varma remains positive about circling back to the role. While not confirming any filming plans, he briefly reflects on the comeback of the Tyagi brothers, saying, “Hopefully, you’ll see not one Tyagi brother but both of them again. That’s my wish.”

During a recent chat with Variety India, director Gurmmeet Singh confirmed that he’s already begun working on Season 4. Ask him whether audiences can expect the Tyagi family to feature in the next chapter, Varma points to the unresolved threads from Season 3, and he says, “One Tyagi son, the Tyagi father and the other members of the family would be there for sure. Because of the way Season 3 ended, I’m assuming that there is more for the Tyagis to do in the story. I’m also waiting for a Season 4 update.” Lilliput plays Devdatt “Dadda” Tyagi and Alka Amin plays Geeta Tyagi, the twins’ parents, while Neha Sargam plays Saloni Bharat Tyagi, wife of Bade Tyagi (Bharat Tyagi).
