‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ End-Credit Scene Held Back for Part 2 (EXCLUSIVE)

“Mirzapur: The Movie” may have more stories waiting in the wings. Variety India has learnt that the makers shot another end-credit scene for the film, but consciously chose not to include it in the theatrical release. The additional scene was originally intended to play at the end of the film and lay the groundwork for what comes next.

The makers ultimately chose to save the sequence. “There was another end-credit scene that was shot for “Mirzapur: The Movie,” but the makers consciously decided to hold it back for Part 2. The scene initially was to feature at the end of the film and set up what comes next, but the team felt its narrative significance would have a much bigger impact when the story continues,” our source confirms.

However, the box office success of the film did not prompt the makers to go for a second instalment. It was always the plan. For now, the theatrical release only offers audiences one version of how the story concludes. “The scene that was held back is now expected to feature as part of the next chapter of the film,'” the source adds.

“Mirzapur: The Movie,” which released on September 4, brings back Pankaj Tripathi as Akhandanand 'Kaleen' Tripathi, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi, along with Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, Abhishek Banerjee, Harshita Shekhar Gaur and Rajesh Tailang. Jitendra Kumar steps in as Bablu Pandit, while Ravi Kishan joins the franchise as Babban Babua. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, the film takes audiences back to 2018 and is set between Episodes 6 and 7 of Season 1. The story explores an untold chapter in the lives of Kaleen, Guddu, Bablu and Munna, as tensions over Mirzapur’s criminal empire intensify.

For fans of the franchise, the decision to go for a second instalment of the film could also mean that the makers are keeping certain developments away from the spotlight as of now, as they build the intricacies of the “Mirzapur” universe further.
