‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Becomes Biggest Hollywood Opener In India; Shatters Recent Biggies Like ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ ‘Pathaan’ and ‘War’
Tom Holland-starrer “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has taken a historic opening at the Indian box office. With an astounding collection of ₹ 60.60 crore, the superhero flick crushed the previous record holder, “Avengers: Endgame” (₹ 53.60 crore), to achieve this glorious milestone.
Apart from shattering several Hollywood records, the film also surpassed the first-day collections of Indian biggies like “Pathaan” (₹57 crore), “War” (₹53.35 crore), “War 2” (₹52.50 crore) and “Thugs of Hindostan” (₹52.25 crore).
The film registered an average occupancy of 72.3% across 17,250 shows. While the English version garnered 55% occupancy, collecting ₹32.25 crore across 7,987 shows, the Hindi-dubbed version enjoyed 95% occupancy across 6,977 shows and raked in ₹22 crore. On the other hand, the dubbed versions of Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada contributed ₹3.25 crore - ₹3 crore, ₹0.07 crore and ₹0.03 crore, respectively.

Looking at the current scenario, the film is expected to enter the ₹100 crore club today, making it the fastest Hollywood film to hit a century in India. In fact, it will surpass the business of “The Odyssey” tomorrow or by Sunday to become the highest Hollywood grosser of 2026.
With the positive word of mouth amplifying the business, it would be interesting to see whether it challenges James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way Of Water” (₹391.40 crore) to become the biggest Hollywood grosser in India. Even if “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” achieves this milestone, it might be very short-lived with the arrival of “Avengers: Doomsday” on December 18.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is the 38th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the fourth film in the MCU Spider-Man film series following “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021).
