Rajinikanth’s “Jailer 2,” which arrived in cinemas on October 15, has completed two weeks at the box office. In this period, the comedy actioner has set several benchmarks for a Tamil movie globally. As the sequel is on a record-breaking spree, here’s a look at the milestones achieved by “Jailer 2” at the ticket windows.
Biggest Tamil Grosser Worldwide
The film is currently the biggest Tamil global grosser with ₹766.65 crore, surpassing another Rajinikanth-starrer “2.0,” which had collected ₹691 crore during its theatrical run.
Biggest Tamil Grosser In India
It also emerged as the biggest Tamil grosser in the domestic market, beating “2.0,” which collected ₹407.05 crore. “Jailer 2” currently stands at ₹429.55 crore.

After “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” (₹102.55 crore) and “Drishyam: The Conclusion” (₹62 crore), it became the third-biggest Indian opener of the year.
4th Biggest Tamil Opener of all time
The Rajinikanth-starrer became the fourth-biggest Tamil opener of all time in the domestic market after “Coolie” (₹65 crore), “Leo” (₹64.80 crore) and “2.0” ( ₹59.70 crore).
Biggest Non-Malayalam Grosser In Kerala
The film recently shattered the nine-year-old record of Prabhas and Anushka Shetty’s “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” (₹72.20 crore) to become the highest non-Malayalam grosser in Kerala. It currently stands at ₹74.40 crore.
First Tamil Film to Enter $25 million Club in North America
“Jailer 2” recently emerged as the first Tamil movie to enter the $25 million club in North America. It recently crossed the $27 million mark in the circuit.
